Fakin’ Palin

January 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

O.K….I still love Sarah Palin. And that’s NEVER going to change. I’ve noticed that the media is still using her as a whipping post and the comedians are making the same jokes and giving Tina Fey awards and plaudits for her impersonation. (It has nothing to do with 30 Rock, BTW.)

My new favorite blog is Big Hollywood, a spot where that supposed rare bird, the conservative entertainment worker (regardless of where they rank on the pecking order), can discuss their industry with like-minded folks. Political comedian, Tim Slagle wrote about Tina Fey’s take down and the need for conservatives to take the comedic reigns, as well. Read the article, but the money quote comes at the end:

Meanwhile, Obama is completely untouchable. The Late Night writers (who are mostly all Harvard alumni) are less than a week away from a new Administration, and still making fun of Governor Palin, and President Bush. They haven’t seemed this starved for material, since the airlines stopped serving food. Whether it’s fear of perceived racism, or simple idol worship, there have been few Obama jokes aired.

I don’t like that. Because a President you cannot make fun of, is not a President.

It is a dictator.

“Bless Your Heart”

October 18, 2008 · 3 Comments

I came across this article about another woman’s (an amputee) experience at a recent Sarah Palin rally in Virginia Beach on October 13. Please take this time to read it. From everything I’ve read and seeing her interact with folks in Laconia, Sarah Palin is the real deal.

Money quote:

What I wish I’d been able to tell her is that the major reason I consider her a hero is the way she stands in stark contrast to the false compassion of our day, in which otherwise good people believe love means trying to eliminate suffering by doling out death like it’s the ultimate gift.

Google

October 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You hear it all the time: Bias in the media! I agree with that and I would add: Bias on Google! I use Google as my main search engine but when searching, I notice an angle.

Type: “Question 1 Massachusetts 2008″

Result: It’s three pages before you find a “Vote Yes” web site. The first 29 links are decidedly “Vote No” links to the AFL-CIO, Mass. Teachers Assoc., Mass. Library group and other special interest groups. The two advertisements on the page are for the opposition and that’s fine if the “Vote Yes” have not bought ads. In fairness, there are at least three links to neutral sites that discuss all the Mass. ballot questions.

Type: “Sarah Palin” rallies

Result: I was looking for future Palin rallies in my area. Out of the 14 links on the first page, 10 are anti-Palin stories. Out of the 10 links on the second page, 6 are anti-Palin stories. So out of 24 links, over half are negative links.

Go ahead. Try it yourself and see what type of links you receive.

Charlie vs. Charles

September 13, 2008 · 3 Comments

The overload of ant-Palin venom is making me quite sick of the whole thing. That being said, all this makes me think that she was the right pick for McCain.

When hearing that Charles Gibson won the prize for conducting the ‘first’ interview, I remembered “Charlie” Gibson, the t.v. news personality I grew up watching on Good Morning America. He was the nice guy with the warm smile doing cooking episodes with the latest celebrity chef and broadcasting the occasional serious piece of news. I believed Charlie would be fair, ask tough questions but allow Palin to say her bit.

Wrong.

I watched the interview shown on the Thursday, 6:30 p.m. newscast of ABC World News Tonight. Yes, Palin seemed a little tense and some of her answers sounded like talking points but I imagine she was guarded considering the recent media hits on her. “Charlie” wasn’t interviewing her. It was “Charles” grilling her in a grim, condescending manner. I was disappointed with his tone and demeanor. Was he interviewing a VP nominee or an unrepentent convict guilty of murdering innocent children?

Again, the media did not give Palin a fair shake. The interview said more about the interviewer than the interviewee, confirming what I’ve been thinking for a while: the main stream media is DEAD.

Home Run

September 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hubby and I stayed up past our bedtime to watch Sarah Palin’s RNC speech. A few minutes into the speech, I turned to Hubby and said, “She’s good.” There was a lot to love about it but the one portion that got us:

Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.
And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

I said, “I’ve never heard a candidate say that before.” Hubby replied, “No sh*&!” This hit home for both of us since my fantastic, horror movie lovin’ brother-in-law is one of those “sons.”

We were smiling during the entire speech. No wonder the press was throwing mud at her. They have nothing else to throw.

Unbelievable

September 2, 2008 · 6 Comments

For over 35 years, feminists, like those from NOW, have been telling three generations of women that you can have it all…wife…mother…AND A CAREER. If you do choose to be a stay-at-home mom, you are hopelessly neanderthal (or at least your husband. He must have forced you to stay home).

The vitriol coming from the Left on Sarah Palin is beyond reality and shows how concerned they are over her candidacy. “How can she be a mom and a governor?” “She endangered her son when she flew home to give birth.” Be honest, if Sarah was a democrat, this would be a non-issue and NOW would give her their support. But she stands for the “wrong” issues, so no support from them.

McCain did what Obama wouldn’t do. McCain has given America an example of a strong female leader, who with the support of a loving husband and family (with real life problems, no doubt) has proven capable of executive decisions, will shut up her critics and give real hope to women who don’t fit the NOW mold.

I am one of those women.

Note: Unknown (to me) commentators with unhinged comments will not be published on this blog. So don’t bother submitting.
